Bring your favorite beverage and a sense of humor! Be prepared to get dirty! We'll provide the clay, tools, equipment and instructor. We welcome friends, your significant others, or a small group for a fun get-together! You'll select your favorite piece at the end of class and we will bisque and glaze it! Finished pieces are available for pick-up approximately 3 weeks after class.

At 11am, the 4 judges will work their way from booth-to-booth, sampling a mini-cupcake each, and will give live feedback before the public arrives. Winners will be announced at 3pm. 

First Place winners in each category will receive a handcrafted cupcake trophy made by our glass-blowing artists + a gift certificate to Jackson's Bistro. Awards announced at 3 p.m. 

New Award: Our "Overall Best Cupcake" winner will be awarded a coveted glass-blown cupcake trophy + will have the opportunity to feature their flavor at Jackson's Bistro!

Polaroid photography aficionado Lance Rothstein has been making instant photos since before 2008. He'll bring a table-full of Polaroid cameras from his personal collection and guide you through the fun process of making Polaroid Pictures.
~ Lance will discuss the history of Polaroid, show some examples by famous photographers, and images from his tour of the Polaroid Factory in the Netherlands.
~ He'll discuss the different types of instant cameras and films currently available, and those lost to the past.
~ Each participant will be provided with an instant camera to borrow and one pack of instant film.
~ We’ll have a quick instruction session on how to get the best results from your film & camera, along with some creative tips.
~ Everyone will have about 45min to take all their pictures on a guided photo walk with advice if needed.
~ Digital pictures can also be used to make real Polaroid Pictures with my Instant Labs
~ We’ll return to the room and share our images and discuss the experience.

It may seem like steampunk science-fiction but it's true! You can actually use your smartphone to make genuine silver gelatin darkroom prints using our traditional photographic enlargers in the Morean Darkroom. Our resident film photography guru Lance Rothstein will teach this one-day, crash-course workshop, walking you through the method. Any color or B&W digital photo can be enlarged on traditional B&W, light-sensitive photo paper.
The newest mobile phones with high-resolution displays, offer the best results but just about any phone will work. You can also transfer your digital images to the instructor's phone to ensure the best quality. We'll be printing 5x7 photos (great for holiday cards) as well as 8x10" enlargements. Each participant will make at least 3 prints. AND, once you've mastered this technique, you can use it to make your own photos in our darkroom during future Open Darkroom Sessions, offered throughout the week.

Come and create an everlasting bloom at the Morean Glass Studio! 

Watch, learn and participate with your very own sculpted flower making experience in the Morean Glass Studio. Gather a group of friends and sign up together or register on your own. Limited to 5 people per night, this event runs from 6pm-9pm, with each participant given enough one-on-one time with a professional glass artist to create a heart of glass.

 Choose your own colors, lay out the colored frit (granulated glass) in the desired pattern on the marver (flat steel surface). Then, with the assistance of a professional gaffer (glassblower) gather up molten glass, adhere the color, then heat, shape, and mold your flower.

This 3-hour workshop will begin with a 30-minute lecture/demonstration from the live model with a focus on foundational techniques and methods. We'll explore how to see the sculptural structure of the head: its angles, planes, and proportions. You'll learn to trust your eye, feel the form with your hand, and carve into space with charcoal. All skill levels are welcome. We'll draw from the live model, play music, and end with a round-table conversation about what we learned, what we found challenging, and what surprised us!

This workshop takes students through the 10 basic rules and secrets of how to create dynamic composition for a two- dimensional work of art. Students will receive a broad spectrum of information and guidelines ranging from "the rule of three" to viewpoint, perspective and how to create depth. This can be realized in any medium, from drawing with pencil or charcoal, to painting with watercolor or acrylics. 

Students must supply their own materials in the medium of their choice. 

This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the art of macramé, focusing on its contemporary applications as a tool for creative expression and mindful making. Participants will learn basic knotting techniques like square knots, half hitch knots and ark’s head knots while exploring how to create functional and decorative textile pieces like plant hangers and side bags among others. The focus of this workshop will be on material exploration, individual creativity and building confidence through craft. Open to all skill levels, this course encourages experimentation and self expression.
